NAVY DOLPHINS SUBMARINE WARFARE WOOD ART
NAVY DOLPHINS SUBMARINE WARFARE WOOD ART
In the summer of 1923, while serving as Commander, Submarine Division Three, Captain Ernest J. King proposed that the Navy create a warfare insignia device for qualified submariners.
The insignia came to be known as “Dolphins” and is one of the Navy’s oldest warfare devices. The hard-earned badge distinguishes and identifies the members of the submarine community and has since become a source of pride for their “silent service.”
Handcrafted from 6 different All-Natural fine hardwoods, our Navy Dolphins Wood Art plaque measures 21" x 6.5".
Since the only difference in the Officer pin vs Enlisted is the color (Gold vs SIlver), as Wood Art they are one and the same. So this is appropriate for both the Submarine Warfare Officer and Enlisted Submarine Warfare Specialist insignia.
There is no paint or colored stain on this plaque, only the natural colors of different exotic woods.
