The overall mission of the Coast Guard is to protect the public, the environment, and the United States economic and security interests in any maritime region including international waters and United States coasts, ports, and inland waterways.

Instead of selecting several complementary shades of mostly brown woods, we used Contrasting Exotic Woods with Natural Colors of black, red, yellow, white, etc.

Our Coast Guard Retired Wood Art Plaque is handcrafted from 8 different All-Natural fine Exotic Woods.

The Background and outer edge Rope are Inlaid, not painted on. We carefully shape and detail the Anchors, including a separate piece of wood for the flukes.

(We did use a touch of paint for the blue part of the shield. We did this for visual impact, and this is the only paint or stain used in this plaque)
